Special information to US customers

Please note that an item marked with CITES1 is only possible to ship to European countries (EU). Please also note that some species might be on the US ESA-list - it is you as buyer and importer that is responsible for selecting the correct items in the webshop.

Small Lots of Seed - USDA

The USDA permit "Small Lots of Seed" is a free and safe way to import seed to US without a phytosanitary certificate. It is free and easy to apply for on the USDA homepage - click here for more info. You can also read more at the homepage of North American Rock Garden Society. They have a very easy step-by-step instruction!

The permit lasts 3 years and cover multiple importations with the same permit.

We will save your ePermit and for future orders just tell us if you want to use it and which permit number. When you order there will also be a tick box in the checkout if you want to use your ePermit. Below a short summary how this works:

STEP 1 - What you as customer need to do:

  1. Apply for the free “Small Lots Seed Program” ePermit at USDA. Preferably, at Articles, in the drop-down list, scroll down to last choice and manually write/select "Eligible taxa" instead of writing down all genera and species!
  2. Order seed at succseed.com. Max 50 pkts per shipment allowed. Preferably add some substitutes or let us choose. Do not order species marked as CITES1 or in other way not possible to import to USA. Please not that you are responsible for what you want to order and import.
  3. Send us a PDF copy of your ePermit including the yellow/green coloured labels. We will send the seeds to the USDA station stated on the labels.

STEP 2 - What SuccSeed will do:

  1. Print out the USDA labels in colour and attach to the mailing box
  2. In the mailing box we will include:
    1. A print of your ePermit or label with your ePermit number/name.
    2. A label with your delivery address (which USDA will attach to the re-sealed box after inspection.
    3. A copy of the invoice
    4. A list of species sent marked with country of origin

STEP 3 - What USDA will do:

  1. Inspection of seeds and documents
  2. Forward the seeds to you with the enclosed delivery address!
They usually contact you when inspection is ready and ask for postage.

Please note that when using shipment with tracking, you will only see the transport to USDA inspection station as this is the only address we can write on the shipment! Estimated delivery time for the whole process is appr 4-5 weeks.
