SuccSeed offer seeds of cacti and other succulents and is specialized in south american genera. In our small greenhouse we grow many hundred species of Lobivia and Rebutia which are carefully pollinated by hand. We try to pollinate as much as we can, to be able to offer the seeds to other growers.
Due to a close cooperation with specialist growers we can offer you many species which never have been possible to obtain before.
SuccSeed can offer over 450 Rebutia and 350 Lobivia, there are over 200 Eriosyce, many Gymnocalycium, Copiapoa and Echinopsis. These Andean plants are highly recommended for all growers: They stay rather small, they are variable in body, spination and flower colour and are easy to grow. They can also resist low temperatures during winter and flower easily. They have been our favourites for many years and so will. For those who prefer other succulents, we also offer Lithops - 'living stones', Conophytum, Faucaria, and many other interesting genera. If you as a beginner find it difficult to decide what to order - let us help you!
Special thanks for all of you who have helped me obtaining rare seeds and photos; Tomasz Blaczkowski, Jürgen Menzel, Cyrill Hunkeler, Christian Müller, Clazien Bouwman, Eberhard Scholz, Graham Charles, Martin Lowry and Fred Kattermann.
For our nordic customers in special, we also offer books, square pots, soil mixtures, labels, fertilizers and much more. If you as a beginner find it difficult to decide what to order - let us help you!
About Mats Winberg ...
I have been growing cacti for 30 years. Very early I focused on growing and study the south american genera. In 1986 I made my first trip to Argentina, were I hiked with a rucksack on my back for six weeks. In 1988 I returned and stayed for five cold weeks in the provinces Salta and Jujuy, concentrating my search for Lobivia and Rebutia on Quebrada del Toro and the remote area around Valle Grande. A few years later, in 1990, I made my longest trip; two weeks alone to cover Valle Grande, Santa Ana and Caspalá, four weeks with my friend Mats Hjertson and after this, four weeks with my wife Karin in the provinces Tucuman, Salta and Jujuy. Karin and I returned in 1993, for a hiking trip around the beautiful little village Iruya. Eleven years later, after marriage and two wonderful children, there were time again to return! Three weeks around Iruya, Santa Victoria - a wonderful time with many nice plants and lovely Argentinian friends. Three years of longing and waiting past and in November 2007 I travelled alone by foot from Nazareno over Trigohuaico to Santa Victoria, a very tough trip on narrow, lonely trails but with fantastic scenery.
In November 2010 I was back again, now hiking in the

province of Tarija, southern Bolivia. Somewhat different from my
Argentinian adventures, but very interesting. I experienced three
dry weeks with just a few hours of rain, which also resulted in
small thirsty cacti, barely visible among grass and stones.
Cleistocactus, Rebutia and Echinopsis were found, actually many of
them with seed, even if most of them had unripe fruits due to the
lack of rain.
In 2012 I was back in Bolivia again, this time together with Martin Lowry (UK). We travelled during three unforgettable weeks from Santa Cruz over Aiquile, Turuchipa, Tarija, Villa Montes and back. Many interesting species were found, and hopefully some of them might be new species.
